Pictures from Fiedler, courtesy of Alice and her hard hatI presume many of you heard that the Engineering building was hit hard. It was, and access to the building is still very limited. We had very few problems in Fiedler Library, thankfully. I was very worried about the wall of windows on the north side, but the windows held and none were broken. We had a significant water leak through the ceiling tiles that occurred due to roof damage, but the water did not get on any of the print material or any computers. Facilities helped us extract water from the carpet and all is well now. We are extremely fortunate. The metal roof deck of the atrium was blown off by the tornado. We could see blue sky through the big hole yesterday. They have made some fixes that have closed the hole, but it isn't finished. I took a few pictures yesterday and thought you might like to see them. Considering the amount of glass in the Rathbone and Fielder atriums, a small portion actually broke. Even with the few panes of glass that broke, there was still a terrible layer of broken glass on the floor yesterday along with a bunch of water. It would have been much, much worse if it had all broken. The atrium is still a hard-hat area. No one is allowed to walk through without a hard hat because wet ceiling panels can still fall.
