Cataloging & Serials Dept. / Collections Services

Acquisitions

Now part of Collection Services Dept.: orders and pays for materials added to the Libraries collections. Accepts gifts of materials, manages monograph order, receiving, claiming and invoices, processes materials for binding, preservation, and for all library collections.

Copy Cataloging


Catalogs all print items and most non-book items that have matching bibliographic records in OCLC.

Database Maintenance


Maintains the quality and integrity of bibliographic, holdings and item records in the online catalog.

Interlibrary Services


Provides access to items not owned by K-State Libraries and shares items owned with other libraries.

Management Team


Departmental supervisors with overall planning responsibilities.

Original Cataloging


Catalogs library materials for which no matching OCLC record exists.

Preservation


Preserves materials for future use by overseeing book repair, staff and patron education, environmental control, and disaster preparedness.

Review Room


Faculty are invited to review materials being considered for addition to the Libraries collections: 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Serials


Receives and catalogs serials, handles claims, manages serials exchanges and electronic resources. .
